I’ve finally decided to create a website and begin to write blog posts! In my first post, I’m going to talk through why I’ve decided to blog and what you can expect from this space.
Why I’ve decided to blog
Over the past couple of years, I’ve become very fond of consuming ideas and thoughts from various sources, whether that be watching YouTube videos, listening to podcasts or reading blogs. During this time I’ve discovered nuggets of information that I’ve found to be inspiring, insightful and eye-opening.
The reason behind me beginning a blog boils down to three key reasons:
1. Journal what I consume
I’ve discovered varying thoughts, ideas and knowledge which I’ve later been unable to recall due to not having a place to store them. The hope is that anything noteworthy I come across, I’ll be able to write about in this space which I can later look back on.
2. Thinking about what I consume
Yes, all these amazing ideas everyone shares over the internet are great. However, I believe myself and others take these things at face value. The hope is that by actively writing about these ideas, I’ll put more thoughts into my personal opinion on the things I share.
3. Share my thinking with like-minded people
The idea here is that sharing my ideas and opinions openly on a blog will help me connect with and interact with like-minded people. If you find any of the content you read in this space interesting and would like to connect, make sure you hit me up 📲.
What can you expect from this blog?
Over time I’ve developed many interests and it is those which I predominantly intend to blog about. I’m by no means an expert on any of these subject matters. However, I have a keen interest in the following matters so you can expect content relating to it.
Tech 💻
For a day job I test software, so I naturally have a keen interest in new and emerging consumer technologies as well as software engineering as a discipline.
Sport ⚽
That thrill of the uncertainty in any sports is what makes sport so great to follow in my view. I actively follow various sports but the ones that are the nearest and dearest to me are Football and Cricket. I’m a pretty big Leicester City fan!
Self Help 🤔
Over the past few years, I’ve spent a lot more time exploring strategies that can help me improve my quality of life, whether that be through bettering relationships, mental wellbeing or physical health. I’ve found some of this stuff to work, so intend to continue looking for things that can help!
Productivity 📈
An area in which I have a lot of opportunities to improve. Everyone has the same number of hours in the day, some seem to get a lot more out of them than others. I’m interested to understand why that’s the case, and more importantly discover actionable things I could be doing to get better.
Business & Investing 💰
A business module that I took on during my time at university sparked my interest in this area (shout-out to Prof Rob Macredie who taught it). It’s fascinating to see how businesses are formed, grow and deliver value to the world. Over the past few years, I’ve been slowly building a portfolio of stocks in companies, which has driven me to do even more research on specific companies which I hope to share in this space.
Human Condition 🧠
Every person has their outlook on life, no outlook is right or wrong. However, our outlook massively shapes how we live our life. I’m keen to explore the varying viewpoints on this to help consciously adapt my view on this matter.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the content!
